Property Management Bookkeeper

RE/MAX Connect VA is seeking a reliable and numbers-savvy Property Management Bookkeeper to support their accounting and property management team. This role is critical for ensuring accurate financial records and providing strong support for property managers, owners, and tenants.

Real Estate

Responsibilities

Enter and reconcile income, expenses, and vendor bills in Appfolio and/or Quickbooks
Assist with monthly bank reconciliations and financial reporting
Process and post tenant payments, fees, and deposits
Prepare and track owner statements and distributions
Maintain accurate ledgers for each property and owner account
Monitor A/R and A/P; follow up on outstanding items as needed
Assist property managers with financial tasks tied to leasing, renewals, and maintenance
Enter work orders, vendor invoices, and maintenance expenses in AppFolio
Track security deposits, move-in/move-out charges, and required adjustments
Help ensure compliance with accounting requirements specific to Virginia landlord-tenant law
Communicate professionally with property managers and vendors regarding payments and invoices
Maintain organized digital records for audit and reporting purposes
Support year-end tasks such as 1099 preparation and tax documentation
Help improve processes and workflows within the accounting and property management systems

Required

1–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (property management preferred)
Proficiency with AppFolio (or another property management system) and familiarity with Quickbooks
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
High attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Experience handling confidential or financial data responsibly

Preferred

Knowledge of Virginia property management or real estate practices
Experience supporting multiple property managers
Familiarity with tenant/owner accounting workflows
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
