Responsibilities

Design and implement lending products like term loans, lines of credit, and merchant cash advances
Create APIs that make it seamless for software platforms to embed Fundbox
Build application, approval, servicing, and repayment flows for small businesses
Develop services for real-time credit evaluation, underwriting, and decisioning

Required

2-4 years of backend development experience
Strong backend engineering experience with Python
Building and consuming RESTful APIs
Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
Familiarity with SQL databases
You care about code quality, testing, and system reliability

Preferred

Experience with frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django and working on API-first products
Exposure to AWS/cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and message queues/event-driven architectures
NoSQL database exposure
Frontend exposure —we use Vue.js
Experience in fintech/financial services
Collaborating across time zones
Contributing to system design decisions
