Responsibilities

Define and execute a multi-year strategy for virtualization, compute, storage, and backup platforms aligned to business growth, resiliency, and regulatory requirements
Lead platform architecture decisions across VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Horizon VDI, hyperconverged infrastructure, and hybrid-cloud integration
Drive standardization of compute and storage architectures across datacenters, including reference designs, lifecycle management, and capacity planning models
Serve as a senior member of infrastructure governance and architecture committees, providing executive-level guidance on platform direction and investment
Provide executive oversight for VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Horizon VDI, and associated management platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, and recoverability
Own platform reliability, including patching strategies, performance optimization, capacity forecasting, and incident response for virtualization and storage environments
Act as executive incident commander for major infrastructure events impacting compute, storage, VDI, or core platform services
Oversee enterprise server infrastructure across Dell, HPE, Cisco, Nutanix, and IBM platforms
Drive hardware lifecycle strategy, including refresh planning, firmware governance, vendor certification, and break/fix escalation management
Ensure infrastructure designs support high-density virtualization, performance-sensitive workloads, and regulatory controls
Own SAN, NAS, and software-defined storage platforms including NetApp ONTAP, SnapMirror, Dell VxRail, Nutanix, HPE Alletra, IBM FlashSystem, and Pure
Establish enterprise standards for replication, snapshotting, disaster recovery, and data retention
Oversee backup and recovery platforms including Rubrik, IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), and Commvault, ensuring recoverability of Tier 0–2 applications
Lead regular recovery testing, site-isolation exercises, and regulatory evidence production
Champion automation-first operations using PowerShell, Ansible, Python, and infrastructure-as-code principles
Drive adoption of monitoring and observability platforms such as VMware Aria, OpsRamp, Lakeside, and Splunk to improve proactive issue detection and performance tuning
Partner with SRE and Platform Engineering teams to define SLIs, SLOs, KPIs, and error budgets
Promote self-service provisioning and policy-based governance to reduce operational risk and time-to-delivery
Ensure platforms meet security, audit, and regulatory requirements typical of financial services and other highly regulated environments
Partner with Security and GRC teams to enforce access controls, privileged account management, segmentation, and continuous compliance monitoring
Lead remediation efforts for platform vulnerabilities and audit findings related to compute, storage, and virtualization
Own budgeting and financial planning for platforms, including CapEx, OpEx, and multi-year investment planning
Manage strategic vendor relationships, contracts, licensing, and SLAs across virtualization, compute, storage, and backup providers
Drive cost optimization initiatives through consolidation, right-sizing, automation, and lifecycle discipline
Lead and mentor senior infrastructure engineering and operations managers across virtualization, compute, storage, and backup domains
Establish clear operating models and handoffs between engineering, operations, SRE, and application teams
Communicate platform strategy, risk posture, and operational health to executive leadership in clear business terms
Foster a culture of accountability, documentation excellence, and continuous improvement

Required

10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure with deep focus on Virtualization, Compute, and Storage platforms
Demonstrated executive ownership of VMware-based environments at scale, including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and VDI
Strong background leading SAN/NAS, hyperconverged, and backup platforms in mission-critical environments
Proven experience managing large budgets, vendor relationships, and regulated infrastructure operations
Exceptional communication, executive presence, and incident leadership skills

Preferred

Experience driving infrastructure automation, infrastructure as code, and SRE-aligned operating models
Background in financial services, capital markets, or other regulated industries
Experience leading datacenter consolidation, platform modernization, and large-scale recovery initiatives
