Field Technician Intern

InternMasTec Utility Services delivers critical infrastructure construction and engineering services for power delivery, gas, and water customers. The Field Technician Intern will perform basic field work including collecting information and measurements of utility locations, collecting GPS data points, and producing field sketches for accurate as-built documentation.

Responsibilities
Work independently, make field decisions without direct supervision and be responsible for obtaining field data to determine condition of structures under evaluation
Adhere and promote company safety measures at all times
Drive safely to test station locations to perform basic field testing of corrosion control systems on underground and submerged metallic structures
Report to client’s local gas distribution office to obtain maps and test station data books
Plan workday to efficiently and safely collect the daily quota of data
Accurately record data in GIS app and by following client’s procedures
Make field decisions and be responsible for obtaining field data that determines conditions of structures under evaluation
Review field results/data with field office corrosion technicians and with management in engineering office
Capture detailed and confirmed field data working with mobile and desktop applications
Qualification
Required
Must have a safe driving record and grant permission to MPS to access their MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
Ability to pass DOT drug test
Government contracts require U.S. Citizenship
Must have a personal cell phone they can use throughout the job
Live in the NJ area and be able to commute to the assigned work locations
Knowledge of MS Office applications, including Outlook
Must have good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as interact with team members, clients and management staff
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
