Adjunct, Counseling - Assessment of Learning and Reading Disabilities

Rivier University is seeking part-time Counseling and Psychology Adjunct Faculty members to teach master’s and doctoral level courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the course CNSL-530, focusing on assessment techniques for learning disabilities and integrating ethical perspectives into the instruction.

Responsibilities

Teaching at least one section of CNSL-530 with the potential for future courses in the candidate’s field
Delivering graduate-level instruction on assessment of educational ability and learning disabilities, including reading, math, and written expression, using current diagnostic frameworks and evidence-based practices
Teaching assessment literacy related to achievement testing, survey batteries, and interpretation of psychoeducational data within school-based and counseling contexts
Integrating ethical, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed perspectives into instruction on diagnostic assessment and educational planning
Designing, grading, and providing timely feedback on applied assignments (e.g., case analyses, assessment interpretation, reflections) aligned with course outcomes and program standards
Utilizing the learning management system to facilitate instruction, maintain communication with students and program leadership, and uphold professional and academic standards

Required

An earned doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychology or a related field
Candidate must possess a keen interest and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring students as well as the ability to work effectively with students of all levels and abilities
Be able to work with a diverse student population
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues both in the department and throughout the University community
Support the Mission of the University
Ability to engage in critical thinking and exercise independent judgment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage confidential information
Self-starter, ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
Computer skills and proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, and reporting platforms, as well as calendaring and email

Preferred

License in School Psychology preferred
Must have two to four year's prior college teaching experience in the field of Counseling and Psychology is preferred
