Human Resources Assistant

Responsibilities
Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling and conducting screener calls and interviews, and conducting reference checks
Support onboarding processes by preparing new-hire paperwork, coordinating orientation sessions and training, and ensuring completion of all required documentation
Maintaining ULS electronic systems to match current personnel status
Maintain and update job descriptions, as needed
Assist employees with enrollment in benefits programs and handling routine benefits inquiries
Maintain and perform periodic audits of HR files. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date employee records, both electronic and physical, ensuring data confidentiality
Process personnel actions, such as new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and legal requirements
Help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws and company policies
Act as a first point of contact for HR-related inquiries, directing employees to the appropriate resources or personnel as needed
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations
Assist in maintaining communication channels for sharing HR information, such as newsletters, emails, etc
Assist in preparing HR documentation and updating HR policies as directed by the HR Director
Assist with scheduling employee travel arrangements as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications
Associate's degree in related field required
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15-20 pounds at times
In person at the Salt Lake Office minimum one day per week
Some travel required
Must be able to travel to meetings and court proceedings as needed
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
Preferred
At least 2 years of direct HR experience preferred. Equivalent, related education may be substituted for experience. Certifications (SHRM-CP and HRCI) may also be considered
Prior related office experience preferred
