Clinical Laboratory Technician 1, UWMC Montlake Specimen Procurement
The University of Washington is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician 1 for their Specimen Procurement Team at UW Medical Center - Montlake. This role involves processing specimens, performing blood draws, and providing excellent customer service to support accurate diagnostics and patient care.

Responsibilities
Perform Specimen Process Activities | Play a key role in patient care by performing specimen processing tasks such as receiving, sorting, and prioritizing specimens and requests, matching specimens against requisitions for appropriate tube type, centrifuging and aliquoting specimens, processing timed urine collections, resulting and reviewing entries for all reference lab testing, performing blood draws on patients, and performing various computer functions
Perform Customer Service | Exercise your customer service skills by responding promptly, courteously, and professionally to inquiries from patients, clients, and hospital and laboratory staff
Share Your Knowledge | Impart your laboratory wisdom by orienting and training new employees, participate in performance improvement activities and support the hospital in meeting JCAHO, CLIA, and CAP accreditation standards
Utilize Problem-Solving Skills | Resolve specimen and order-related problems in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner and provide appropriate documentation for supervisor review
Qualification
Required
High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience
Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration
Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification with the Washington State Department of Health OR obtain the MA-P certification within 180 days of start date
Preferred
Associate or bachelor's degree in science
Experience in a major medical hospital laboratory
Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS)
