Director of Business Development

California Garlic Company, also known as Garlic King, is dedicated to providing high-quality food ingredients and has over 30 years of experience in the industry. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, executing strategic plans, and managing client relationships to drive company growth.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives
Directly manage and lead the Sales team, including goal setting, performance management, and coaching
Identify and pursue new market opportunities, customer segments, and distribution channels
Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective customers and strategic partners
Lead negotiations for new customer agreements, strategic partnerships, and long-term contracts
Serve as a senior Point of Contact for high-value and strategic accounts
Collaborate with the Sales team to transition new accounts and ensure successful onboarding
Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to inform growth strategy
Work closely with Operations to ensure feasibility, pricing alignment, and supply readiness for new business
Oversee development and maintenance of key customer contracts and pricing structures
Participate in forecasting and long-range planning related to revenue growth and market expansion
Represent the company at regional and national trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings
Proactively pursue leads through trade shows, industry networks, referrals, and market research
Support product positioning and value proposition development in coordination with Marketing
Prepare and present business development reports, forecasts, and updates to the Executive team
Investigate and resolve high-level customer or partner issues related to strategic accounts

Required

Proven expertise in New Business Development and Lead Generation
Experience in Business Planning and formulating growth strategies
Strong skills in Contract Negotiation and closing deals
Demonstrated ability in Account Management and client relationship building
Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to work collaboratively across teams to drive business objectives

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred
Prior experience in the food or agriculture industry is a plus
