Oncology Data Specialist, Remote
University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health is a community-based, integrated health system dedicated to improving the health of the people in northeastern Maryland. The Oncology Data Specialist will identify, abstract, and maintain records for eligible malignancy cases, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and submitting data accurately to cancer registries.

Responsibilities
Identify, abstract and maintain records for all eligible cases of malignancy adhering to American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and UM UCH Oncology Registry standards and procedures
Monitor data quality, timely and accurately submit data to the National Cancer Data Base and the Maryland Cancer Registry according to regulations
Coordinate and maintain follow-up and participate in conferences and meetings
Qualification
Required
Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) is required
Minimum of one (1) year previous experience as a Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) with a demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, medical records and medical office skills is required
Ability to handle multiple priorities
Ability to work independently
Ability to take initiative in achieving expected results
Ability to handle confidential information
Demonstrated skill in making effective decisions
Demonstrated skill in attention to detail and follow through
Demonstrated skill in problem-solving
Demonstrated skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines
Demonstrated skill in working with clinical staff in analyzing registry data
Demonstrated skill in respecting the confidential nature of all aspects of patient care
Understanding of medical records, ICD-9 and ICD-10, coding systems
Oncology registry software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and data management skills
Preferred
Experience working in an Oncology Registry multi-facility database
