Responsibilities

Design and Build Infrastructure: Architect, construct, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using AWS technologies to support business intelligence, analytics, and machine learning initiatives
Lead Architectural Decisions: Guide data infrastructure projects to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Stay abreast of emerging technologies to enhance data engineering capabilities
Ensure Data Quality: Implement data quality controls, monitoring, and alerting systems to maintain data integrity, accuracy, and consistency
Optimize Systems: Enhance existing data systems and resolve complex data-related issues
Mentor and Lead: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers through design and code reviews, adherence to coding standards
Promote Best Practices: Drive data engineering best practices across the organization, contribute to software design reviews, and establish data governance policies and procedures

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
7+ years of data engineering experience
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
Experience with MPP databases such as Amazon Redshift
Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
Knowledge of cloud platforms, preferably AWS (S3, EMR, Redshift, Glue, Lambda)

Preferred

Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
Master's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, QuickSight)
