They are seeking an outstanding laboratory technician to provide technical services and support to the research groups, including tasks such as glassware maintenance, supplies management, and media preparation.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Glassware maintenance, including collecting, cleaning, sterilizing, and distributing laboratory glassware

Supplies management, including maintaining and recording supplies inventories in COMPANY stockrooms, Supply Centers, and tissue culture suite

Media preparation, including preparation of bacterial agar plates according to request and commonly used buffers; ability to use basic laboratory instruments, such as analytical balances, pH meters, magnetic stir plates, etc. is highly desirable

Maintenance of glasswasher and autoclaves including proper operation according to manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and maintaining supplies

Waste disposal, including collecting, autoclaving and properly disposing of waste that requires sterilization before disposal, disposal of recyclable materials

General safety duties, such as monthly eyewash and shower tests, monthly sterilizer test, and associated record keeping

Perform auxiliary services as requested

Required

High School Diploma (AA or BS in Biological Sciences is highly preferred but not required)

1–2 years of relevant laboratory, facilities, or operations experience. Must have

Professional demeanor, ability to interface with staff across functions, as well as consultants and vendors

Strong organization skills and attention to detail in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment

Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills

Effective communication skills are essential: the candidate must have the ability to communicate through email, effectively speak one-on-one or in small groups

Focus on internal customer service; approachable, responsive and thorough in follow-through

General computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
