Administrative Assistant
The State of South Dakota is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Animal Industry Board within the Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources. The role involves providing administrative and statistical support, managing data systems, and preparing reports related to animal health programs.

Responsibilities
Provide administrative and statistical work in gathering, compiling, tabulating, computing and editing basic data for statistical reports and studies
Establishing and maintaining filing and data systems
Preparing monthly and quarterly reports
Writing and typing correspondence
Distribute incoming mail
Answering calls and issuing permits for livestock entering the state
Work in both state and federal systems
Use technologies and tools for the transformation of raw data from public sources into meaningful and useful information in a database for analysis purposes
Perform data validation
Create reports from this data
Aggregate data from multiple sources into a database that allows for the easy interpretation of large volumes of data
Extract, transform, and load data for search ability and reporting purposes

Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations
Human relations sufficient to tactfully and in a business-like manner interact with persons making inquiries about Animal Health programs
Establish effective communications and maintain effective working relationships
Read and comprehend animal health program related bulletins, manuals, rules, etc
Write letters, memos, etc
Communicate orally sufficient to provide program information by telephone and in-person for data collection and reporting
Adapt to continuous organizational and program changes
Interpret objectives and develop practical applications
Preferred
Knowledge of or a background in animal science or the livestock industry
A background in agriculture
Working knowledge of access database development
