Technical Sales Engineer - Food Processing Equipment
Engtal is a well-established, U.S.-based, family-owned manufacturer of food processing equipment, expanding its technical sales team. This role focuses on driving capital equipment sales, building customer relationships, and providing technical support in food manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
Own and drive capital equipment sales within a defined territory
Build and manage a qualified pipeline through consistent customer engagement
Lead opportunities from discovery through proposal, demo, trial, and close
Expand existing accounts by identifying new applications, upgrades, and line-level improvements
Partner internally with engineering, applications, and service to close deals effectively
Spend significant time on-site in food processing plants
Learn the equipment portfolio deeply enough to:
Support demonstrations and customer trials
Answer application-level technical questions
Help customers evaluate solutions confidently
Provide light technical or field support as needed, coordinating with service teams
Translate customer needs into clear, actionable inputs for engineering
Build trust with plant operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams
Prepare thoroughly for customer visits and follow up with discipline
Document site findings, opportunities, and next steps clearly
Maintain accurate opportunity tracking and forecasting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience in food processing, field service, or operations
Experience working in or around food processing, packaging, or capital equipment
Strong mechanical and process aptitude
Comfortable engaging directly with customers on-site
Willing and able to travel extensively
Preferred
Capital equipment or technical sales experience
Background in field service, applications engineering, or plant operations
Familiarity with protein, bakery, prepared foods, or similar environments
