Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain a large-scale distributed database environment while leading infrastructure initiatives including RDS account migrations, major version upgrades, and capacity planning

Identify and diagnose complex performance issues through proactive monitoring, query analysis, and system-level tuning

Develop automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform for database provisioning, patching, and migrations

Architect high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including database proxy implementations for connection management and failover

Mentor junior engineers, lead technical design reviews, and participate in on-call rotation for production incidents

Required

5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL in production environments, with deep knowledge of database internals, query optimization, replication, and high availability strategies

Extensive experience with AWS RDS including Multi-AZ deployments and read replicas

Strong proficiency with Terraform and automation scripting (Python, Bash). Knowledge of database proxies and connection pooling (RDS Proxy)

Strong Linux fundamentals and experience with monitoring and alerting systems

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with leadership experience mentoring engineers and driving technical initiatives
