Responsibilities

Create and facilitate small-group reading workshops for K-2 students, ensuring phonics instruction is fun, engaging, and tailored to individual needs
Adjust teaching methods in the moment based on student needs, group reading proficiency, and engagement signals
Facilitate motivational coaching sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy apps and reach learning milestones
Track student progress data from adaptive software and apply it to customize instruction for each reading group
Employ storytelling, humor, gaming comparisons, and positive reinforcement to sustain student persistence and address resistance

Required

Willing to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related field
Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics programs
2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or struggling readers
Proven ability to evaluate student reading levels and create differentiated instruction independently
Enthusiastic about video games and gaming culture, even if not a gamer yourself
Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
