Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely investment accounting and financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, NAIC STAT, and BDA STAT
Collaborate with the internal Investments team and external asset managers to evaluate and execute new, complex investment opportunities
Review and validate investment position information provided by cedents and other counterparties for accuracy and completeness
Administer and enhance the investment accounting platform (Clearwater Analytics), including driving automation and data integrity improvements
Support and respond to requests from internal and external auditors, regulators, and rating agencies
Provide timely, relevant, and insightful investment accounting information to Finance leadership and other stakeholders
Evaluate technical accounting implications of new investment structures and monitor emerging accounting guidance
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that drive operational efficiency, data transparency, and control effectiveness
Perform detailed data reviews and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of investment records
Other duties as assigned to support Finance and Investment Operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Current CPA, CA, or equivalent accounting designation
At least 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience, with a strong focus in investment accounting
Experience managing large and complex investment portfolios and interpreting related accounting requirements
Proficiency with Clearwater Analytics or similar investment accounting platforms
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, NAIC statutory accounting, and Bermuda statutory reporting
Experience coaching and developing high-performing teams
Proven track record of delivering timely, high-quality reporting and analysis in a fast-paced environment
Experience working in a startup or building out a new business unit
Familiarity with IFRS and international regulatory environments
Background in evaluating ALM strategies or alternative investments
Excellent technical accounting and investment knowledge
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Proven ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines
Detail-oriented with a willingness to dive into granular data reviews
Highly analytical with strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Effective communicator who can simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
Collaborative and capable of working cross-functionally to support broader business goals
Demonstrated ability to enhance and maintain financial systems and tools
Ability to build trusted relationships across internal teams and with external partners
Leads and develops a small team of investment accountants
Responsible for recruitment, performance management, mentoring, and professional development
Manages relationships with external consultants, auditors, and service providers related to investment accounting
