Director of Finance

Responsibilities
Own all accounting operations for PHG’s restaurant and hotel locations across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
Establish and maintain strong internal controls, close processes, and financial standards across the portfolio
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex accounting, reporting, and operational finance issues
Lead the month-end close process using Restaurant365, including reconciliations, reviews, and variance analysis
Prepare and oversee financial statements, audits, ERISA reporting, and required regulatory filings
Lead, develop, and hold accountable the Restaurant Accounting team, with a strong focus on coaching, structure, and skill-building
Create clear expectations, documentation, and repeatable processes to support a growing and developing team
Foster a culture of learning, ownership, and psychological safety within the finance function
Partner with payroll to ensure accurate and timely biweekly payroll processing
Act as a trusted financial partner to General Managers and operational leaders
Translate financial results into clear, actionable insights related to labor, food cost, cash flow, and profitability
Lead regular financial review meetings with GMs and regional leadership, driving accountability and follow-through
Coach GMs on financial fundamentals with an approachable, hospitality-centered leadership style
Support unit-level problem solving, including performance improvement and financial decision-making
Own cash flow management, forecasting, and ongoing financial planning processes
Lead the annual budgeting process in close partnership with operations and leadership
Manage reforecasting, scenario planning, and performance tracking throughout the year
Develop and monitor key performance indicators, providing variance analysis tied to recommended actions
Oversee inventory controls, cost management, and margin protection initiatives
Ensure strong cash handling, deposit, and loss prevention practices across all locations
Administer and maintain restaurant systems reporting and ticketing platforms
Work with state and local municipalities on personal property tax audits, permits, and licenses
Support capital expenditure planning, remodels, and unit-level financial modeling as needed
Lead with a service-oriented mindset that reflects PHG’s commitment to hospitality, respect, and teamwork
Build trust and credibility with field leaders through consistency, clarity, and follow-through
Balance high standards with empathy and support, particularly in high-pressure operational environments
Be a visible and engaged leader across locations, with willingness to travel as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
7 to 10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience within multi-unit restaurant, hospitality, or retail environments
Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams with varying levels of technical maturity, including building structure, clarity, and confidence in relatively junior teams
Proven ability to partner closely with operational leaders, particularly General Managers, translating financial data into practical, operational guidance
Strong working knowledge of restaurant and hospitality financial drivers, including labor management, cost of goods, inventory controls, and cash flow
Hands-on experience with budgeting, forecasting, reforecasting, and variance analysis in a multi-location environment
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, assess risk, and recommend clear actions
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts in a way that is approachable, respectful, and actionable for non-finance leaders
High level of organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment
Leadership style grounded in accountability, collaboration, and service to the business, with the ability to hold standards while building trust
