Vice President Sales Engineering
Valor Front is a retained executive search partner seeking a Vice President of Solutions / Sales Engineering for a confidential client in the data center industry. The role involves leading technical engagements with hyperscale and AI customers, translating complex requirements into executable solutions, and guiding internal stakeholders through the design and delivery processes.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical interface for hyperscaler and AI customers during pre-sales and solutioning—leading multi-discipline technical calls and workshops
Translate customer requirements into conceptual designs: MEP capacity planning, whitespace layouts, interconnection architecture, and AI/HPC density strategies (including liquid-cooling options)
Develop technical documentation and RFP responses: specifications, narrative descriptions, diagrams, TCO and PUE analyses, solution comparisons and risk/mitigation proposals
Partner closely with internal Engineering, Development, Construction and Operations teams to validate feasibility, align on reference designs, and ensure the solution matches standard design templates and delivery schedules
Support contract negotiations and post-sales handoff by ensuring customer requirements are clearly documented and traceable through design reviews, factory witness testing, and commissioning milestones
Contribute to the build-out of solution libraries, standard documentation, and internal tools that scale the platform’s ability to respond to complex deals
Represent the company at industry events, customer site visits, and data center tours as a credible technical leader
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in data center engineering, pre-sales, or solutions development (operator, hyperscaler, or major design/build firm)
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers, CRAHs, etc.) and the ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and cooling schematics
Demonstrated success supporting technical sales or solution design for large-scale, mission-critical facilities—with exposure to hyperscale due diligence cycles
Familiarity with AI/HPC workloads and high-density cooling solutions (50–250kW/rack; liquid cooling experience strongly preferred)
Strong project management skills: able to manage multiple pursuits in parallel, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, and deliver on tight submission deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the executive presence to lead 10–20 person technical calls and present to senior customer stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
Preferred
Location: Northern Virginia, Bay Area, or Phoenix preferred (other major U.S. markets considered)
Advanced degree, PE or PMP a plus
