Program Manager, Community Based Mentoring (Bilingual Spanish)
Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City is the nation's first and NYC's largest youth mentoring organization, dedicated to supporting mentoring relationships for youth. The Program Manager will facilitate impactful mentor-mentee matches, providing ongoing support and supervision to ensure the success of the program.

Responsibilities
Ensure a high level of proficiency and skill in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies, and procedures throughout all aspects of job function
Identify and report child safety issues for volunteers, children, and their families
Supervise a caseload of 55 matches comprised of youth, parent/guardians, and volunteers with the goal of building an impactful, longer, stronger mentoring relationship. Must be able to conduct match supervision in both English and Spanish
Provide ongoing phone, email, and in-person monthly supervision and support to mentors, mentees, and parents
Conduct client and parent psychosocial interviews, write assessments and collect supporting information from collaborating agencies, schools, etc. to determine disposition based on eligibility, needs, goals, and/or acceptance for agency services
Maintain and document professional records of all supervision contacts; collect surveys on youth outcomes, the strength of the mentoring relationship, and identify ongoing support needs
Monitor closely for safety, program compliance, goal achievement, and program satisfaction; immediately address and resolve issues that may arise
Regularly evaluate youth clients based on agency guidelines and specific program goals to assess outcomes
Lead educational and recreational group activities and/or special projects for mentoring pairs and parents based on emerging needs
Act as an advocate for youth and families by providing referrals, crisis intervention, and other additional resources
Identify and communicate qualitative and quantitative success within the organization
Perform other organization and program-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Education: Associate Degree in relevant field with 4+ years of experience; Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, psychology, social services or related field with 1 – 3 years of direct service experience; Master's Degree in mental health counseling, social work, education or other relevant fields with 0 – 2 years of experience
8+ years of experience in the youth development field may exempt applicants from education standards
Knowledge of child safety and mandatory reporter protocols, alignment with an asset-based approach to supporting young people and volunteers
Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion
Adaptable and flexible; strong critical thinking and situational judgment; ability to build relationships; Strong administrative and organizational skills
Experience developing and managing relationships with youth clients, guardians, and volunteer mentors
Knowledge and demonstrated experience with intake processes, and case management skills; Experience with conducting psycho-social interviews, a plus
Must be proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, & Outlook; Experience using Matchforce and/or Innovative Mentoring systems, a plus
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups
Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage high caseloads and effectively work with clients
