Director of Revenue Cycle Management

The Director of Revenue Cycle Management is responsible for overseeing billing, collections, and reimbursement processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving financial performance within the organization's revenue cycle operations.

Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of all Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial billing, collections, and revenue cycle activities within St Croix Hospice
Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing revenue cycle team focused on accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
Monitor and report on key revenue cycle metrics, including Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), cash collections, denial and appeal rates, billing accuracy, and AR aging
Establish and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monthly collection goals to ensure optimal cash flow and financial performance
Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations governing Medicare and Medicaid billing for hospice care, including timely submission and correction of claims
Collaborate with clinical, financial, and operational leadership to address revenue cycle barriers and streamline processes
Identify and implement process improvements, automation tools, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce errors
Engage and communicate with long-term care and skilled nursing facilities to understand and resolve any billing discrepancies in accordance with contractual payment terms
Oversee reconciliation and audit processes to ensure accurate and complete revenue capture
Develop and present monthly and quarterly revenue cycle performance reports to executive leadership
Stay current with Medicare and Medicaid hospice billing regulations, CMS updates, and payer trends to proactively adjust processes and maintain compliance
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in finance, Healthcare Administration, Business or related field
7+ years of experience managing a revenue cycle or billing team in a healthcare setting, preferably hospice or home health
10+ years of hands-on experience with Medicare billing, claims processing, and collections
Strong knowledge of Medicare hospice reimbursement rules, eligibility, and compliance standards, preferred
Proven track record of managing and improving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monthly cash collections
Advanced Excel skills
Ability to pass DHS background study
Strong leadership and team development skills
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to multi-task and work with a sense of urgency under deadlines required
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable results
Demonstrate executive presence, with solid communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other teams and departments, including finance, operations, and clinical teams
Proficiency with EMR and billing systems (e.g., HCHB, Netsmart, or similar hospice/home health billing software)
