Special Projects Intern

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc. (GACC South) is a private, non-profit organization promoting bilateral trade between Germany and the United States. They are seeking a highly motivated Intern – Special Projects to work with the Director on strategic initiatives, offering hands-on exposure to opportunity assessment, strategy development, and project execution.

Responsibilities

Working directly with the Director to identify, validate, and assess new business, program, or partnership opportunities
Developing project concepts, strategies, timelines, and implementation plans
Supporting the execution and monitoring of special projects from concept through delivery
Preparing presentations, reports, and decision briefs for internal leadership and external stakeholders
Conducting market, stakeholder, and feasibility analyses to support strategic decision-making
Coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery
Supporting the development of innovative formats, such as digital services, pilot programs, or educational offerings
Assisting with process optimization, documentation, and internal knowledge transfer
Contributing to selected consulting, delegation, or event-related initiatives as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in business, economics, international relations, or a related field
Strong ability to structure complex topics and translate them into actionable plans
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
High level of professionalism and comfort interacting with senior stakeholders and clients
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-based and international (including virtual) environment

Preferred

Experience or strong interest in strategy development, innovation, or special project work
Basic programming or technical skills (e.g., scripting, data handling, automation)
Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or workflow automation tools
Exposure to curriculum design, training development, or blended learning formats
Working knowledge of the German language
International experience (studies abroad, work, or extensive travel)
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and initiative
