Responsibilities
Submit clean electronic & paper claims (CMS-1500/UB-04 as applicable)
Handle Medicaid MCO billing (eligibility checks, payer rules, portal work, follow-up)
Post insurance and patient payments; reconcile EOBs and prepare daily deposits
Follow up on rejections/denials, correct claims, and support appeals when needed
Support behavioral health billing workflows, including authorizations when applicable
Prepare and send patient statements; assist with payment plans and delinquent accounts
Run billing/aging reports and support monthly reporting
Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and full HIPAA compliance
Qualification
Required
2+ years of medical billing experience (behavioral health strongly preferred)
Strong knowledge of Medicaid + MCO billing (Horizon NJ Health, Aetna Better Health, Amerigroup, UHC Community Plan, etc.)
Solid understanding of claims submission, payer rules, and insurance verification (Medicaid, Medicare, commercial)
Strong payment posting experience (must be comfortable with high volume)
Familiarity with prior authorizations and common denial reasons in managed care
Working knowledge of coding basics (ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS) and clean claim requirements
Strong Excel skills (filters, formulas; pivot tables preferred)
Experience with EHR/billing systems and payer portals
Strong communication, follow-through, and attention to detail
High School Diploma required (additional education a plus)
