This internal position is responsible for coordinating training and maintaining personnel training records for suppression members, as well as supervising training programs and conducting evaluations.

Responsibilities
Plans, schedules, supervises, and conducts, suppression, officer, and safety training classes and drills
Maintains records and requirements of types of training required by specific members based upon rank. (e.g. ISO requirements)
Evaluates baseline skills of division personnel, provides gap analysis and makes recommendations to develop and improve suppression related training
Based upon the above stated needs assessment creates and publishes at least one training bulletin per month
Coordinates and makes specialized training recommendations such as Haz Mat, Dive, Driver, First Responder, etc
Performs related work as required and as directed by the Battalion Chief of Training or the Fire Chief
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of modern methods, techniques and theories used in adult education, training, and leadership
Ability to handle highly confidential information, in both written and verbal format
Ability to plan, direct and coordinate the work of subordinates, including instructors and junior officers
Ability to develop and prepare lesson plans and present effective training classes
Ability to consistently demonstrate tact, courtesy, reliability and maturity while carrying out assigned duties
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to adhere to tight schedules and still maintain work quality
Ability to operate a City vehicle and possess the required license
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other municipal employees, City officials, and the general public
Must have good computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office and other training related software and tools
Associates Degree with six (6) years of work experience in a Fire Department
State Certified Fire Fighter II, Fire Instructor; Live Fire Instructor; Certified CPR Instructor, ESLI, and Fire Officer 1
Appropriate NIMS related training commensurate with Declared Emergency Response designation
