Process Engineer - SMT / Automotive Lighting

The Process Engineer will oversee manufacturing processes for automotive lighting products, ensuring quality and efficiency while collaborating with design engineering and supporting new product introductions.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain SMT manufacturing processes to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
Program and optimize SMT equipment (pick-and-place machines, stencil printers, reflow ovens, AOI/AXI)
Perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions for defects such as solder bridging, tombstoning, misalignment, and insufficient solder
Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and process control plans
Lead process capability studies and implement statistical process control (SPC)
Collaborate with design engineering to improve manufacturability (DFM) of new products
Select solder paste, stencils, nozzles, and other materials to optimize yield and reliability
Support new product introductions (NPI) from prototype to full-scale production
Train operators and technicians on SMT best practices and equipment use
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase line efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve quality
Ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, etc.) and ESD control requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering or manufacturing engineering
5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in an electronics manufacturing or SMT environment
Must be reliable and detail-oriented
Preferred
Automotive industry experience preferred, but not necessary
Experience with Lean/5S principles preferred, but not necessary
