B&J Seeking Structural Design Engineer - Los Angeles
Brandow & Johnston is currently seeking a Design Engineer for their Los Angeles office within the structural engineering department. The role involves providing engineering design, calculations, and support for various projects including new buildings and seismic evaluations.

Responsibilities
Provide engineering design, calculations, and preparation of plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state and local agency requirements and general engineering design standards
Ability to establish and maintain communication, responsiveness and effective working relationships with design team, clients, consultants, and contractors
Provide Construction Administration and support, including but not limited to resolving field issues, reviewing material submittals, and addressing contractor RFIs
Create and develop detailed engineering designs using analytical software (such as ETABS, RAM, etc.) and Revit software and other design tools
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints
Perform calculations, simulations, and tests to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
Generate and review technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and reports
Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and outcomes
Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and client presentations to communicate design concepts and progress
Work closely with CAD drafters to develop knowledge for the production of construction documents
Perform other tasks as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis from accredited college or university; required
0-2 years of experience in the same or similar role
Knowledge of general engineering principals, statics, dynamics of structures and general engineering design
Basic knowledge of structural design for concrete, steel, timber, and masonry
Preferred
Masters of Science Degree in Structural Engineering preferred
Experience with analytical software (such as ETABS, RAM, etc.) and Revit; preferred
