Women in Cleantech and Sustainability is seeking various engineering and robotics roles at Planted Solar in Oakland, CA. The positions focus on solar project delivery, including responsibilities in solution engineering, civil and electrical engineering, and robotics development, with opportunities for growth in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Focus on early customer engagement and strategy, proposal development, project optimization, and growing our pipeline of solar power applications

Own critical pieces of our early-stage project engineering and business development process

Apply knowledge of Planted’s technology, the energy market, and solar development and construction to support customers

Own the design and engineering of the mechanical, structural, geotechnical, and civil aspects of Planted Solar’s projects

Support solar site design, specifically focused on the structural, civil, and geotechnical disciplines, while balancing optimization of energy production, schedule, and labor and material costs

Interface with customers, independent engineers, and permitting agencies to ensure Planted projects meet all civil and structural engineering requirements

Own the electrical design and engineering for Planted Solar’s projects, including development of design documents, electrical layouts, block diagrams, and electrical system calculations

Optimize site design while balancing energy production, schedule, and material and labor costs

Design and develop high-performance Qt-based GUIs for Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) with Planted Solar’s Semi-Autonomous machines

Conduct hands-on testing in both controlled and field environments to optimize user experience and ensure system reliability

Build and maintain CI pipelines for desktop apps and HIL testing that provide fast feedback, reproducible builds, and traceable artifacts

Design, build, and operate the backend services and APIs for telemetry, data ingest, command and control, and user workflows

Run deployments end to end with safe over the air updates, staged rollouts, health checks, automated rollback, and device configuration

Develop control algorithms, integrate sensors, and implement real-time robotic software for autonomous solar-installation robots

Lead data collection in the field, diagnose and fix issues, and support onsite operations such as operator training and machine logistics
