Business Development Manager
Potato Corner is a company focused on franchise growth and market presence in the U.S. They are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the expansion of their franchise operations, develop business opportunities, and maintain relationships with franchisees and partners.
Responsibilities
Lead the annual U.S. franchise and store expansion planning process
Identify new markets (state and city level) and develop strategies to penetrate them
Evaluate existing markets and recommend optimization strategies (store relocation, closure, or expansion)
Develop and present business plans & feasibility studies for each new site or franchise opportunity
Identify and recommend strategic sites across malls, lifestyle centers, transit hubs, and high-traffic nontraditional venues
Negotiate lease agreements, ensuring favorable rental terms and landlord concessions
Build a strong network with U.S. mall developers, real estate brokers, and landlords
Provide franchisees with business development support (financial analysis, site evaluation, sales forecasting)
Maintain relationships with franchisees, ensuring alignment with brand standards and business goals
Maintain competitive intelligence on QSR/food kiosk and snack industry trends in the U.S
Benchmark competitors’ growth, pricing, and site strategies
Provide quarterly/annual reports and recommendations to PC USA leadership
Maintain a database of assets and monitor lease contracts
Review lease terms regularly to maximize profitability
Recommend subleasing, relocations, or conversions to enhance returns
Support franchisees and operations teams in resolving landlord/lease-related concerns
Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local regulations in site acquisition and franchise development
Uphold Potato Corner USA’s code of conduct and ethical franchising practices
Supervise the BD Support roles within the team, ensuring clear deliverables and capability building
Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and collaboration across functions
Provide training, mentorship, and performance reviews to direct reports
Qualification
Required
At least 5 years of experience in Business Development, preferably in the U.S. restaurant/food retail sector, with at least 3 years in a managerial or decision-making role
Experience in franchising, site development, or multi-unit food operations is strongly preferred
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related field
MBA a plus
U.S. Market Knowledge (QSR/Food Retail) on Franchise Development Processes
U.S. Market Knowledge (QSR/Food Retail) on Real Estate Leasing & Site Selection in U.S. malls, strip centers, airports, and nontraditional sites
