Senior Budget Analyst - Office of Budget and Performance Management (OBPM)

The DC Mayor's Office of Talent and Appointments is seeking a Senior Budget Analyst for the Office of Budget and Performance Management (OBPM). The role involves providing expertise in budget formulation, analysis, and execution, while supporting the development of the Mayor's $21+ billion annual budget and ensuring resources are effectively allocated to improve the lives of DC residents.

Responsibilities

Assists in budget preparation for operating and capital funds, as well as financial and policy analysis for their assigned portfolio
Works on projects and makes draft recommendations to improve the District’s outcomes
Provides analysis in an operating budget cluster and capital project proposals and monitors contracts and re-programming requests within the assigned portfolio
Supports the development and administration of the District’s Capital Improvement Program
Provides technical budget assistance to the Budget Director and City Administrator
Works with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer during the annual budget formulation, execution, and closeout processes; and
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required
At least two years of experience with budget and finance or related work in a policy position that required writing and analysis
Superior Microsoft Excel skills/knowledge
Superior Microsoft PowerPoint skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Full-time standard office hours are required, with additional evening/weekend hours required on a project basis
Demonstrate a sense of initiative, attention to detail, self-discipline, autonomy, persistence, creativity, patience with others, and efficiency

Preferred

Master's degree
Experience using Tableau or other data visualization software
Experience drafting public facing communications and presentations
