Head of SEO

Responsibilities
Own strategic leadership across a portfolio of 6–10 priority clients, setting quarterly objectives and delivering executive-level reviews that connect SEO performance to business outcomes
Provide direction across technical SEO, large-scale content strategy, site architecture, migrations, redesigns, and authority-building initiatives, ensuring excellence in execution and alignment with client goals
Lead innovation across emerging search environments including AI-driven SERP experiences, YouTube discovery ecosystems, Reddit search behavior, and new organic visibility channels
Partner cross-functionally with Growth Marketing to ensure SEO insights inform holistic growth strategies and integrated execution
Oversee the SEO tool stack and operational infrastructure, optimizing workflows, processes, quality standards, and efficiency across the practice
Deliver meaningful reporting and insight, including weekly KPI visibility, monthly performance and retention insights, and executive storytelling for leadership and client stakeholders
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing SEO team, ensuring clear role definition, career development, collaboration, and accountability
Own and continually improve the company’s internal SEO strategy and performance, setting the standard for the caliber of work delivered to clients
Define and evolve the future state of SEO within the organization, guiding methodology, positioning, and strategic direction in a rapidly changing AI-influenced search landscape
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience leading SEO in an agency or multi-brand environment, with direct ownership of strategy, client leadership, and team management
Proven history of driving client retention and measurable growth, demonstrating meaningful impact on pipeline, revenue, and performance outcomes
Experience operating beyond traditional Google SEO, including YouTube, Reddit, AI-influenced results, and emerging discovery platforms
Advanced technical and content expertise, including crawling/indexation, site architecture, structured data, Core Web Vitals, large-scale content strategy, and performance troubleshooting
Mastery of key SEO and analytics platforms including Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Surfer, GA4, Google Search Console, and related tools
Demonstrated fluency with AI tools and workflows, leveraging them for research, content strategy, internal linking, QA, and efficiency improvements
Exceptional communication skills, capable of guiding C-level stakeholders while coaching and enabling a growing SEO team
Strong strategic mindset, consistently connecting SEO decisions to broader marketing, business, and revenue objectives
