Firing Process Engineering Intern - Summer 2026
Corning Incorporated is one of the world’s leading innovators in glass, ceramic, and materials science, seeking an intern to support process improvements in Environmental Technologies. The intern will work on projects related to firing process variables and manufacturing throughput.

Responsibilities
Work on projects to support process improvements applied to the Environmental Technologies processes
Evaluate the impacts of firing process variables on end product attributes
Identify incoming product attributes that impact the firing process yield
Increase manufacturing throughput through firing process innovation
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Level Engineering program; preference for Material Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
To be considered for an internship at Corning Incorporated, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a Bachelor's Degree or higher
Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025) with a graduation date of December 2025 or later
Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
Be willing to work at the posted job location
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis
Working knowledge or experience with design of experiments (DOE) concepts
Excellent critical analysis, and logic/reasoning skills
Preferred
Understanding or experience with thermodynamic principles
Basic understanding of ceramic sintering process
Collaboration in a multicultural environment
Experience with Six Sigma DMAIC or similar principles
