Hardware Product Engineer

Responsibilities
Support the lead project engineer to design, develop, produce and test custom space electronics
Manage product requirements from internal and external customer stakeholders through product development evolution including deriving design and test requirements necessary to ensure product performance, functionality, reliability and manufacturability. Collaborate with designers to validate conceptual solutions through the performance of trade studies and analyses. Allocate product requirements to functional disciplines and coordinate the verification activities across the project team to ensure all product requirements are verified and documented
Author and review engineering analyses and reports. Ensure project data deliverables meet customer specifications and are delivered on time
Author unit, subsystem and product test procedures
Perform design verification testing and production hardware testing. Read and understand printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) schematics and PCB layout drawings. Use laboratory measurement equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot electronic failures down to the discrete component / integrated circuit level
Resolve non-conformance issues encountered during manufacturing and testing activities including leading Failure Review Board (FRB) meetings and championing Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts
Apply corrective actions to product designs by formulating solutions, selecting alternative components and authoring engineering change orders
Maintain complex structured bills of materials and update for component obsolescence
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
A minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in electronic systems performing EE PCBA design (schematic/layout) and/or embedded microprocessor / FPGA / ASIC design
Experience authoring, managing, deriving, and verifying requirements for complex electronics systems
Prefer direct user experience with a requirement management database such as: IBM Rational DOORS, JAMA Connect, Siemens Polarion, etc
A high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Self-starting instincts and a strong sense of project ownership
Ability to work independently with a strong technical foundation while proactively identifying and resolving technical challenges
Demonstrated ability to communicate fluently with internal and external customers to break down complex tasks and bring innovative solutions
Deep understanding of computer architecture and digital interface technologies
Preferred
Having experience designing or specifying space-based, radiation-hardened electronic components is highly desired
Ability to work onsite and be the primary POC during product testing campaigns
Prefer experience working in cross-functional project teams that perform product design and development including prototyping and manufacturing phases
