Senior Tax Accountant
ABGi USA is hiring on behalf of a respected mid-sized CPA firm in Foxborough, MA, seeking a Senior Tax Accountant. The role involves managing complex tax engagements, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to strategic tax planning initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage complex tax compliance and consulting engagements for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts
Supervise, review, and mentor the work of tax accountants and junior staff
Conduct thorough research on advanced state and federal tax matters
Analyze and respond to technical tax issues identified during the preparation and review of returns
Collaborate with accounting leadership on matters such as payroll tax, retirement plans, and regulatory changes
Coordinate deliverables with both internal departments and external clients
Oversee client engagements from planning through final filing and delivery
Compile and review financial statements to support accurate and timely tax return preparation
Review client agreements, correspondence, and financial documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
Maintain audit-ready documentation and assist with audit defense preparation
Stay current with evolving federal and state tax laws, including state-specific filing requirements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
4–6 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting
Proficiency with tax software and research tools (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or similar)
Proven ability to lead client relationships and manage tax engagements independently
Strong mentoring skills with a focus on developing junior team members
Deep technical knowledge of high-net-worth individual, pass-through entity, and fiduciary taxation
Excellent research, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
Preferred
Master's in Taxation
CPA license (or progress toward certification)
