Responsibilities
Serve as a member of the Data Warehouse and Decision Support (DWDS) section in the Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS) in the Division of Management Services
Work on the transition of reporting and software features into technical requirements, such as epics, features, and stories following Agile/Scrum-based software development
Determine release plans and project scope
Work with and serve as a liaison between management and business units within DPI, external stakeholders, product owners, developers, and the scrum master and product owner to identify and analyze opportunities for improving reporting processes and business systems
Conduct research, analyze and document system requirements and business rules, and create user stories
Create functional requirements and specifications, prepare process flow diagrams, and assist with Quality assurance
Work closely with others to accomplish project objectives, or function independently to accomplish daily work requirements as a member of the DWDS team
Qualification
Required
Prior experience in data warehousing or reporting projects (3-5 years)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including meeting facilitation skills
Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer dashboard use integration and dependencies
Experience preparing business requirements and functional specifications
Experience writing user stories with clearly defined acceptance criteria
Ability to estimate phases of work and contribute to project planning
Ability to create test plans and perform application, reporting and system regression tests
Ability to synthesize requirements and work with developers to create options/recommendation papers for decisions to be made by any stakeholder level
Ability to work with both business/program area owners and translate their needs to developers
Experience using Azure DevOps or similar tools to manage user stories and sprint backlogs
Experience using relational databases (writing queries, etc.) using SQL Server
Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI reporting solutions
Preferred
Minimum 2-5 years' experience using Agile/Scrum Development Methodology
Experience working with education software or reporting systems at the school, district, or state levels
Knowledge of data warehousing and reporting in the education sector (K-12/P20W)
Experience using Asana to track and report on project milestones
