Electrical Engineer (On Site)

Voltage Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Electrical Engineer to join their team. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing utility-scale and commercial battery energy storage systems, focusing on electrical system integration and compliance.

Responsibilities

Design electrical systems for BESS projects (AC/DC schematics, grounding, protection, interconnection)
Create and review single-line diagrams, wiring layouts, and power distribution systems
Specify and select key equipment: PCS, transformers, switchgear, battery racks
Ensure designs meet NEC, NFPA, UL, IEEE, IEC, and local utility standards
Collaborate across teams to support permitting, procurement, and construction
Conduct power flow studies and grid impact assessments
Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting
Prepare documentation for interconnection and compliance
Stay current with emerging technologies in grid-scale storage

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
2–5 years of experience in battery storage, renewables, or power systems
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and tools like ETAP, SKM
Strong understanding of energy storage systems and safety codes
Familiarity with UL 9540/9540A, IEEE 1547, NEC Article 706

Preferred

PE license or EIT certification
Experience with SCADA, EMS, or BMS integration
Knowledge of SAP or similar project management tools
Field experience in energy storage commissioning or operations
