Responsibilities
Conceptualizing the application of automation principles to new and existing manufacturing processes (e.g., project proposal) - determining scope, milestones/deliverables, and costs - and communicating those to internal/external stakeholders
Supporting and participating in manufacturing Kaizen and DFMA events related to the application of automation and robotics solutions across MFC programs
Collaborating with external vendors to promote the use of commercially available applications to accelerate the deployment of automated solutions. This includes generating SOW, Specs, Requirements Document, etc., in support of those efforts
Supporting and participating in the design, fabrication, assembly, validation, and deployment of manufacturing tools and electromechanical systems that includes automated components such as robots, conveyors, vision systems and programmable controllers
Hands-on integration of robotics, controls (PLC/HMI), end of arm tools (EOATs), and existing systems and machines
Working with engineering and manufacturing roles to understand requirements and manufacturing processes for which automation tools can be developed and deployed
Capital and IRAD planning and execution, vendor/integrator engagement, and project management activities to deploy automated solutions at multiple sites across MFC
Approximately 15% travel may be required to facilitate multi-site automation projects
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in robotics automation and integration projects
BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience/combined education
U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance
Experience with industrial and collaborative robots such as FANUC or equivalent
Experience with automation controls systems design & assembly, such as PLC/HMI interfaces
Skilled in robotic simulation using tools such as Visual Components, Roboguide, RoboDK, or equivalent
Experience facilitating design reviews of robotic systems with cross-functional departments and stakeholders, using CAD, PowerPoint, and other visualization tools
Experience with project management techniques, tools, and ability to develop industrial automation deployment plans (scope, milestones, deliverables, and costs)
Preferred
Practical experience in developing and deploying industrial robotics and controls into manufacturing facilities (e.g., FANUC and Rockwell Products)
Understanding and knowledge of industry standards (e.g., robotic safety and facility requirements) associated with the deployment of automation and robotics in mfg. facilities
Python, C++, or similar programming experience required for supporting communication protocols across devices
Must have the ability to integrate AMRs with other automated equipment in the production floor, such as machine tending applications
Experience integrating EOAT through I/O architecture in automated/robotic systems
Skilled in mechanical modeling and visualization using CREO/Solidworks or similar platform
Experience leveraging vision systems for robot guidance and path planning
Ability to develop and communicate larger automation strategy across multiple product lines – excellent written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated discipline in executing multi-functional projects with competing constraints
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
