Administrative Law Judge 1
The State of Oregon's Employment Department is seeking an Administrative Law Judge 1 to conduct administrative hearings for various state agencies. The role involves ensuring fair and impartial hearings, primarily in the Driver and Motor Vehicle Services area, while also supporting the agency's diversity and inclusion goals.

Responsibilities
Conduct timely, fair, and impartial contested case hearings primarily in the Driver and Motor Vehicle Services (DMV) subject matter area
Preside over hearings, ensuring that a complete record is developed, and write orders accurately, deciding all factual and legal issues
Carry out the agency’s affirmative action, diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and responsibilities
Qualification
Required
Three years' experience conducting contested case hearings; OR graduation from an accredited law school with a LL.B. or J.D. degree
Experience preparing and/or presenting cases before an administrative hearing panel or preparing written administrative decisions based on laws and regulations may be substituted for one year of the conducting contested case hearings experience
This position requires travel to various locations within Oregon. Employee must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record, OR employee must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation. Occasional overnight travel will be required

Ability to explain legal processes, procedures, and policies to individuals with varying levels of familiarity with the legal system
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and remain organized and self-motivated
Ability to analyze a variety of legal matters
