Vice President of Marketing and Communications
FreeFrom is a national nonprofit dedicated to building economic freedom and safety for survivors of gender-based violence. They are seeking a VP of Marketing & Communications to design and lead strategies that amplify survivor voices and shape national conversations around gender-based violence.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and lead marketing and communications strategies that drive visibility, revenue, and narrative change
Set and steward a cohesive marketing and communications strategy, ensuring all creative outputs and initiatives align with clear, measurable organizational goals
Lead FreeFrom’s strategic narrative and storytelling, shaping how the organization—and the broader field—talk about GBV survivors and ensuring campaigns, content, and partnerships collectively drive culture change and action
Set and uphold a high bar for visual craft and communications assets, inclusive of social content, media pitches, social content, videos, newsletters, reports, speeches, and other assets
Partner closely with the CEO and Development team to ensure marketing and communications strategy directly fuel fundraising, donor engagement, and long-term revenue growth
Build strong infrastructure, inclusive of editorial calendars, brand guidelines, analytics, and reporting systems that ensure campaigns are strategically aligned and visually cohesive
Serve as point person for communications related to flagship initiatives such as the Survivor Wealth Summit, major reports, and national narrative change campaigns
Support the growth and long-term profitability of GIFTED by guiding its storytelling, brand positioning, and audience engagement
Serve as a senior leader, department head, and champion for FreeFrom’s mission and values
Contribute to strategic decision-making, organizational planning, and development of policies and practices—bringing a story, brand, and culture lens to leadership decisions
Oversee departmental operations, including budget, expenses, revenue alignment, analytics systems, and vendor/consultant management
Mentor and grow a marketing and communications team that reflects clarity of strategy, excellence in storytelling, high visual standards, accountability, and continuous learning
Act as a thought partner to the CEO, ensuring her voice is strategically deployed while freeing her from day-to-day communications management
Lead with integrity and fluency in survivor-centered language, power, and nuance, recognizing that learning how this work must be talked about is a core leadership responsibility

Preferred
Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, and/or purpose-driven settings is strongly preferred
