Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and implement RPG programs and applications on IBM iSeries platform
Maintain and enhance existing AS400 applications and systems
Create and modify RPG, RPG ILE, RPGIV, and CL programs
Develop and maintain SQL-based reports and data extraction programs
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and system problems
Integrate AS400 systems with modern applications and databases
Design and implement file structures, databases, and data access methods
Perform data conversions and migrations between systems
Work with DB2 for database management and optimization
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
Provide production support and participate in on-call rotation
Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years' experience
4 years Hand-on IBM iSeries AS400 development experience
4 years RPG programming experience
Proficiency in CL programming and job control
Strong SQL skills for DB2 and other SQL based databases
Experience with Query/400, WRKQRY, Showcase Query, and reporting tools
Understanding of iSeries architecture and operations
Database design, optimization, and administration
Traditional 5250 interface programming
Native file system, IFS (Integrated File System)
File transfer protocols and automated processes
Preferred
Experience with web service integration and APIs
Data format handling and parsing
Electronic Data Interchange experience preferred
Experience with free-format RPG and modern programming techniques
Knowledge of IBM i integration tools and middleware
Experience with software configuration management
Experience in retail, manufacturing, or distribution industries
IBM i technical certifications preferred
Experience with Agile/Scrum development practices
Proven experience in full software development lifecycle
Experience with system upgrades and migrations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
