Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted policy advisor and lead critical federal and state regulatory engagement efforts that directly impact the automotive aftermarket industry
Guide the association’s regulatory strategy
Collaborate closely with federal agencies such as NHTSA, EPA, and the FTC
Partner with congressional staff, coalition partners, and member companies
Assist the general counsel with routine legal matters related to the association’s operations
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
7–10+ years of experience in regulatory law, government affairs, or public policy
Substantive experience interacting with federal agencies (e.g., NHTSA, EPA, FTC)
Strong knowledge of federal regulatory and administrative law processes
Demonstrated success advancing policy initiatives or managing complex regulatory issues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong political acumen, judgment, and strategic thinking
Preferred
Experience on Capitol Hill, within a federal agency, or in an in-house government affairs/legal role
Existing relationships with agency officials, congressional staff, or relevant trade associations
Background in the automotive, transportation, technology, or energy sectors
Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
