The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan is seeking an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office. This role involves prosecuting complaints on behalf of the County, preparing legal briefs, and representing the State of Michigan in various court cases.

Responsibilities
Receives and reviews police reports and arrest warrants from police departments. Advises police agencies on proper legal procedures
Prepares legal briefs for submission to Circuit and District Courts, Court of Appeals and Supreme Court
Represents the people of the State of Michigan in jury and non-jury felony cases in the Circuit Court and District Court, as well as argues cases in front of the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court
Assists less experienced Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys by recommending strategies and techniques
Exercises a considerable degree of independent judgment throughout each state of the criminal justice process and in the preparation of cases
Completes special projects and assignments as requested by the Prosecuting Attorney
Participate in community outreach programs of personal interest to the applicant that align with the office goals
Qualification
Required
Graduation from accredited law school is required
A member of the State Bar of Michigan. If awaiting bar results, applicant may be hired in pending passage of bar exam
Preferred
Prior experience is preferred but not necessary
