Real Estate Counsel (Asset Management)
Tactex Recruiting Advisors is representing a commercial Real Estate Investment Firm seeking a talented Real Estate Counsel for their Asset Management legal team. The role involves providing legal support for leasing, property operations, and post-closing matters while ensuring the firm's legal and economic interests are protected through effective negotiation and communication.

Responsibilities
Draft, review and negotiate new leases, lease amendments, lease terminations, estoppels, SNDAs, and vendor agreements
Review and negotiate easement agreements, CCR amendments, REAs, and utility or service-related agreements
Manage tenant disputes, enforcement issues, and cure notices with Asset Management and outside counsel
Review, revise, and manage execution of post-closing documents such as assignments, consents, and transfer documents
Evaluate legal and operational impacts of tenant defaults, terminations, or property redevelopments
Provide clear summaries and legal guidance to asset managers on lease interpretation and enforcement strategies
Serve as legal liaison on third-party agreements with property managers, brokers, and utility providers
Support condemnation and easement issues with outside counsel
Coordinate with lenders, title companies, and surveyors on property-level matters
Assist with insurance, risk-management, and compliance issues impacting assets
Identify legal risks early and propose practical, business-aligned solutions
Maintain internal legal files, templates, and contract databases
Support review and resolution of legal due diligence issues for hold-sell decisions
Conduct legal research on issues impacting leased asset operations (e.g., permitted use clauses, exclusivity protections, geographic use limitations, etc.)
Operate with integrity, humility, and professionalism in all interactions
Prioritize multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously and work efficiently to meet deadlines
Deliver complete and accurate work products
Follow up tenaciously on pending items from others (e.g., tenants, lenders, team members)
Keep your team lead informed of roadblocks or delays immediately
Ask clarifying questions when expectations are unclear
Use email for non-urgent items and escalate urgent issues via text or phone as appropriate
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
2-3 years of prior experience in real estate transactions or leasing
Excellent organizational and project management skills with a strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to follow through and proactively troubleshoot
Tenacity and urgency to ensure time sensitive matters are addressed promptly for closings
Servant-heartedness with a willingness to assist with various projects
Ability to work independently
Proficiency of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel and document management systems
