Facilities Architecture Manager
Metropolitan Transportation Authority is responsible for the public transportation system in New York City, and they are seeking a Facilities Architecture Manager to lead the capital construction program for NYCT Subways. The role involves overseeing multi-million-dollar projects, ensuring compliance with building codes, and managing project delivery from planning to construction oversight.

Responsibilities
Provide leadership in the design and construction management of NYCT facilities capital projects, ensuring compliance with NYS Building Code and Department of Subways Construction Standards
Direct all phases of project delivery—planning, scheduling, feasibility studies, architectural design review, technical specifications, construction oversight, and reporting
Serve as the lead architect, guiding the development of architectural solutions that incorporate end-user needs, protect customer experience, and support station operations. Apply expertise in architectural, structural, interior, and furniture design to ensure facilities are fully functional and aligned with NYCT standards
Manage and coordinate work of in-house represented labor and external contractors to deliver cost-effective, high-quality projects
Supervise and develop architects and project staff and provide leadership and coordination support for engineers throughout the project lifecycle
Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, identify design and construction risks, and ensure quality control
Coordinate permitting, approvals, and integration of cross-disciplinary engineering (structural, MEP, finishes, and furniture)
Oversee contract administration and enforce standards by checking construction work, confirming the full scope is completed, and preparing punch lists as needed. Ensure inspections are properly scheduled with all required parties present to support safe, timely, and compliant project delivery
Track budgets, schedules, and project status using project management software and NYCT applications; prepare reports for senior leadership
Prepare and present analysis of design or construction alternatives and make recommendations to support decision-making
Be available to provide leadership during emergency or critical incidents, recognizing that NYCT operates 24/7 and projects may occasionally require response outside normal business hours
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution in Architecture/Engineering
Six (6) years of related experience and two (2) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory/administrative capacity; or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience
Ability to work in the assigned workplace which may be in remote NYCT project locations
Ability to work on weekends, evenings, and during emergency events, such as hurricanes and snowstorms, as needed. There is no telework available for this position
Preferred
NYS RA License Preferred
Experience working with public sector agencies or large-scale transportation systems
Familiarity with unionized labor environments
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Proficient in CAD
