Responsibilities

Design, model, and detail mechanical parts and assemblies using SolidWorks, producing complete and accurate drawings and documentation suitable for medium to high-volume manufacturing
Apply mechanical engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, strength of materials, tolerance analysis) to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability requirements
Perform and interpret engineering analyses (hand calculations, FEA, kinematic or thermal analysis as appropriate) to validate designs
Participate in structured design reviews, incorporating feedback from Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams
Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities; define and document test plans and results
Release designs through formal document control systems (PDM/PLM), including part numbers, BOMs, drawings, and ECOs
Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Suppliers to resolve production issues, improve manufacturability, and support design for cost, quality, and assembly
Contribute to sustaining activities by evaluating field issues, supporting root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective design changes where required
Manage assigned tasks independently while communicating progress, risks, and tradeoffs clearly

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
3-5 years' of relevant Engineering experience
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM for parts, assemblies, and drawings
High proficiency in MS Office, SolidWorks, PDM, FEA tools, PLM (any), ERP (preferably NetSuite)
Experience with electromechanical drive train design. AC and DC motors up to 5hp, worm drive reducers
Understanding of hydraulic systems, schematics, design, and deployment preferred
Knowledge of common manufacturing techniques and DFM: Metal forming, welding types, plastics molding and forming, printing, painting, corrosion protection, machining, extrusions, assembly automation, etc
Prior experience in industries producing durable goods, industrial equipment, or electromechanical assemblies
