Environmental Engineer

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a motivated Environmental Engineer to join their Civil & Environmental Engineering unit. This role involves delivering engineering design and environmental compliance support services for transportation projects, including site remediation and facility compliance support.

Responsibilities

Produce quality design services conforming to applicable design standards/guidelines and codes
Prepare contract documents consisting of drawings, technical specifications, construction cost estimates
Produce biddable and constructible contract drawings in AutoCAD
Perform site inspections at the Agency’s facilities
Audit consultant engineering studies, designs and contract documents for construction projects

Required

Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university
Minimum of four (4) years of professional engineering experience in design and or environmental compliance and regulatory oversight including any of the following: New Jersey/New York remediation projects, experience with regulatory agencies including EPA, NYS DEC, NJDEP, OSHA, and familiarity with the NYSDOL and AHERA requirements for asbestos abatement
Working knowledge in AutoCAD and ArcGIS
Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred

EIT Certification and /or on path to obtain PE license in the future
Working knowledge of guidelines and standards, but not limited to NYSDEC/NJDEP regulations, NEPA/SEQR
Demonstrated experience in problem solving, decision making, negotiations, and conflict resolution skills to effectively reach sound conclusions and recommendations
Proven ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments with multiple disciplines
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize as required
Proficiency in preparing contract documents, drawings, and technical specifications
Excellent presentation and written communication skills
Proficient in the use of software applications Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
