Data Scientist

The Data Scientist will support the Electric Operations Excellence Team by translating business needs into advanced analytics and machine learning solutions, focusing on the execution and delivery of high-impact models.

Responsibilities
Lead development of high-complexity machine learning models and training datasets
Provide hands-on execution and deployment of data science and analytics solutions
Translate business problems into well-defined data science use cases and select appropriate algorithms
Communicate model performance, insights, and implications clearly to stakeholders and leadership
Prioritize analytics work to maximize operational and business impact
Balance tradeoffs between analytics value, model design, and technology choices
Mentor junior data scientists and collaborate across cross-functional teams
Develop process models, documentation, and artifacts supporting technical architecture
Manage development of quantitative models, tools, and forecasting solutions
Perform complex data analysis and present recommendations through dashboards, reports, and presentations
Partner with leaders to support strategic decision-making and performance improvement
Qualification
Required
Hands-on experience with machine learning and algorithms in real-world applications
Strong foundation in mathematics and statistics (probability, linear algebra, calculus, statistical inference)
Advanced programming skills in Python, R, and SQL
Experience with model evaluation, optimization, and feature engineering
Ability to communicate insights clearly to senior leadership using visualizations and presentations
Experience building, training, and evaluating models end-to-end
Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
Bachelor's degree in Econometrics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years of job-related experience, or Master's degree with 6+ years of experience, or Doctorate with 3+ years of experience
5+ years of experience in data modeling
Preferred
Experience with utility or energy industry data
Foundry experience
Experience with Pandas, Scikit-learn, Spark, or similar technologies
Experience using data science notebooks (Jupyter, Zeppelin, etc.)
Cloud experience (AWS, Azure)
Scrum or Agile team experience
Forecasting, Bayesian networks, and graph analytics
Strong software engineering and workflow design experience
