Responsibilities
Handle criminal defense matters from intake through resolution
Manage an active caseload of approximately 60–70 cases
Conduct client intakes, consult with prospective clients, and assist with signing new matters
Appear regularly in court for hearings, conferences, and motions
Conduct client meetings, negotiations, and motion practice
Prepare cases for trial and try cases when appropriate
Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support firm operations and growth
Opportunity to assist on personal injury matters as experience and interest develop
Qualification
Required
Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona
3–5 years of criminal defense experience preferred
Experience handling both misdemeanor and felony matters
Comfortable appearing in court and litigating contested issues
Willing and able to take cases to trial when necessary
Strong client-facing communication, judgment, and professionalism
Willing to participate actively in client intakes and case sign-ups
Able to manage a full caseload independently without micromanagement
Preferred
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Confident, professional, and empathetic with clients
Comfortable discussing fees, expectations, and case strategy with prospective clients
Organized and dependable in managing a busy docket
Team-oriented while capable of working independently
Comfortable with both pre-trial litigation and trial-level advocacy
Not a fit for someone requiring extensive training or close supervision
