Truancy Case Manager

CW Solutions is seeking a Truancy Case Manager for their Truancy Prevention and Opportunity Program (TPOP) in Wood County. The role involves assisting children and families to improve school attendance and academic achievement while preventing entry into child welfare systems.

Responsibilities

Assist children, youth and families in overcoming obstacles to obtaining regular school attendance and academic achievement through intensive comprehensive strengths-based programming
Help to prevent entry into the Child Welfare and or Youth Justice Systems
Work closely with school officials, Human Services Administration, Social Workers and Municipal and Circuit Court officials
Provide a system of care that is child-centered with the needs of the child and family dictating the types and mix of services provided
Improve educational engagement and attendance at school
Perform ongoing, supportive case management services to youth ages 10-16 who are truant or at risk of becoming truant
Responsible for mentorship, technique-building and family systems case management for program participants
Work collaboratively with participants to develop a strengths-based plan that assists them in attending school consistently, increasing resiliency, and developing positive interactions within the school setting

Required

A Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Sociology, Health and Wellness or related field that provides the necessary skills to meet the expectations of the position
Must have a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and access to transportation to travel to various work sites
Ability to motivate others towards achieving their personal goals
Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open personal qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries
Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate, supporting participants within the context of their identity, family, community, tribe, history, culture, and traditions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to establish rapport with program participants
A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both participants and fellow employees
Ability to relate to children and to develop and sustain trusting, supportive relationships with them
Ability to work positively when children express reactive behaviors and actions
Proven background experience in working with children who may express heightened trauma response
Ability to navigate between family experiences and child behavior with strength-based approach
Strong vision of hope and positive expectation and outlook when engaging all parties involved
Schedule is non-traditional, but flexible and based around clients' availability. Since case managers are heavily involved with each family, long hours may be required
