Property Agent Trainee(Target Class: Property Agent 1)

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is seeking a Property Agent Trainee to join their Division of Rights of Way. This entry-level position involves training in real property acquisition, relocation services, property management, and related areas, with the opportunity for promotion to Property Agent 1 upon successful completion of the program.

Responsibilities

In a department or institution receives training in introductory governmental work for development of skills and knowledge in field of public administration in order to qualify for advancement into agency professional positions
Performs a variety of increasingly difficult duties as skills are acquired during course of training period
Performs related duties as required

Required

Students graduating with an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree by December 31, 2025, are strongly encouraged to apply!
Applicants must be available to travel to and attend trainings, conferences, public meetings, field reviews, etc., both within and outside of normal working hours, when necessary, and must possess and retain a valid driver's license
Please list your Driver's license number, expiration date, and issuing State in the 'Licenses and Professional Certifications' section of your application
Candidates must be able to meet the experience and training requirements of the designated job class at the completion of the development program

Preferred

Possession of a Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following degree areas: real estate, business administration, economics, geography, communications, urban planning, political science, engineering, or a closely related field
Experience using Microsoft Office 365, Teams, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
Experience leveraging interpersonal, presentation, public speaking and verbal and written communication skills with diverse and challenging populations
Experience leveraging organizational skills to prioritize work and efficiently manage time, resources and multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Experience demonstrating a strong work ethic, positive attitude, eagerness and ability to take direction, learn and retain job training
Experience analyzing problems and utilizing resources to recommend effective solutions
Experience reading and interpreting statutes and case law
Experience reading, interpreting and understanding engineering and design drawings and plans
Experience or training in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
