Responsibilities

Performs clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization
Provides courteous, timely and knowledgeable customer service to facility users and staff in person, via email, and by telephone
Assists in the accurate and timely execution of funds management and collection of fees
Assists in the control of facilities, equipment, and supplies
In the absence of the Youth Center Director or School Age Coordinator, aids in overseeing office administration

This position requires an uncommon tour of duty, which will include nights, weekends, and holidays
This position has been identified as having 'regular contact with children'. In accordance with (IAW) Public Law 101-647 Section 231, Public Law 102-190, Section 1094, and DoD Instruction 1402.05, background checks are required
Certificate in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation is required
Must possess maturity and judgement and be capable of handling emergency situations common in dealing with small children in a child development center environment
The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-4, or equivalent in other pay systems
Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-4 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-5 level

Preferred

Knowledge common clerical practices and office routines
Knowledge of Child and Youth programs and procedures
Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs
Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and skill in typing to accurately format and prepare required correspondence and documentation
Ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and courtesy
Ability to learn money handling techniques and procedures
