Quality Inspector

Responsibilities
Interprets blueprints, work orders, and other documentation to determine acceptance or rejection standards
Performs visual and dimensional inspection of first articles, assemblies, final product, and tooling, utilizing micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments. Ink stamping of sub-assembly and final assembly, CMM and other precision measuring instruments
Documents inspection results, maintain records, and prepare reports
Routes inspected parts to appropriate destination
May perform source inspection at vendor sites
May assist in training lower-level inspectors
Performs limited, intermittent physical exertion. Works under acceptable conditions with some distraction due to occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat or chemicals
Perform QA audits as needed
Follow directions and implement added scope objectives and activities outlined by QA management
Qualification
Required
Requires a high school diploma and/or a minimum of 5 to 8 years of consistent mechanical inspection experience
Also requires advanced math aptitude including knowledge of trigonometry, knowledge of highly complex mil-specs, ability to read blueprints, and use of all types of measuring instruments
Considering the complex interface with every functional organization it is very important to have excellent communication skills
It is flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion
Able to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, and squat
Able to occasionally push, and reach
Able to move items up to 25 pounds for distances of up to 30 feet
Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands
Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment
Based upon your job duties, and need to visit different areas within the company, you may be exposed to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment
Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
